Note to self

September 12, 2007

“Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.”

~ Les Brown, motivational speaker and author

  1. And let me add that those friends helping you are the same people who held your hair while you puked after doing a beer bong, cause they said it was fun. Yah, puking in public was lots of fun!

  2. Oh, yeah…I’m relying on me. More so now than ever.

  3. That’s a note to all of us!

  4. My version of this is: “I’m the only one entitled to call me a fuckup … but I’d better do it when the term applies.”

  5. And the corollary that I have to remind myself of sometimes is, “only you can take you down the wrong path, no one else”.

  6. Pool ~ Isn’t that the truth? Realizing that people who said they were my friends who weren’t in truth friends of mine was one of my major maturation milestones. Cheers!

Hi Beth ~ It’s scary but liberating all at the same time, isn’t it?

Hi Dan ~ Well, I didn’t just want to say, “Note to Dan” 😉 xoxoxoxo (You know I love you.)

Jim ~ I love your perspective!

    V. ~ How true. And maybe, “Only you are the one who can correct your mistakes and make amends.” Cheers!

  7. Responsibility and accountability….. heavy heavy words. Too heavy for a lot of people.

by the way, I’m the Dragon and I’m here via CS.

  8. Words to live by.
I really hate when people at work bitch about how much they hate their job or hate their house or hate their partner.
You know, it’s YOUR life. You have the power to change it, no one else does.
I know that some people just like to vent, but really, when it comes down to it, make yourself happy.

  9. Kiyotoe ~ So glad to have you here! Thanks for stopping by. I’m just hoping that they’re not too heavy for me, as I’m the one who seems to need to hear them most of all. If I want more love in the world, I’d damn well better *be* more love. It’s a daunting wish.

ACG ~ You and I are so similar? At least I think so. From your moniker to so many other things about you, I relate to you. It took me a long time to realize that some people who bitch about their lives and never change it must just seem to enjoy the bitching. Especially when the ability to change seems so easy. Of course, this is all filtered through my rose-colored glasses, but I have two women in my life who seem to just really identify and get a rush off of feeling like the victim. If they changed their lives and went with the happiness instead of the misery, what would feed their souls? 😉

  10. Yep, couldn’t agree more. By the way, I recommend Kiyotoe’s blog – he’s a favorite of mine, and also a relative.
