A gentle reminder

October 12, 2007

Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.

~the Tao Te Ching

  1. I’m trying, I’m getting there…it’s quite a journey but the reward will be worth it.

  2. Hi Beth ~ I think that perhaps there is no real arriving at this place of complete peace in this lifetime but that it’s the striving for it that brings a better life. I can’t imagine I will ever be there, but I keep doing my best to walk it anyway. Here’s to facing the journey together!

  3. Yeah! The whole world belongs to me!!!! Now, off to get that vodka drink that belongs to me too.

  4. I try to live that way every day, Angie Beth. Sometimes I succeed, and other times I say, screw it, I wanna be self-indulgent, not to mention self-pitying. Have a happy Sunday.

  5. A beautiful thought. I wish I could say I never forget it. But I do. Too often. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. Pool ~ Have I told you that you’re my kind of girl lately? You are!

Ian ~ I think that means you’re doing it right! Thanks for your good wishes. I hope that your weekend is a good one for you!

Thanks, V. ~ I post these things to remind myself. If I don’t have frequent reminders it all goes to hell quickly. Hope you’re having a good weekend and that life is treating you well.

  7. Thank you for the beautiful photo and for the reminder. I always love posts like this and I love this one especially. So simple, so true.

    Much peace and love today.

    ~ RS ~

  8. Hi Ruby! It seems to me that we were posting similar thoughts on the same day. I feel honored to think that I have tapped in to the same vein you feel. Much peace and love (and healing) to you in return. Thanks for the visit!

  9. Wanting what you have. One of the single best rules for happiness. So hard to master, though!

  10. Hi C! Probably impossible to master as each new day brings new joys and challenges, but so wonderful that peace that comes with feeling that you’re on the right track. I adore that feeling!
