In keeping with my overall philosophy

Dichotomous Woman’s mantra:

“The most exquisite paradox … as soon as you give it all up, you can have it all. As long as you want power, you can’t have it. The minute you don’t want power, you’ll have more than you ever dreamed possible.”

~ Ram Dass: Spiritual teacher, author, and professor

  1. After the breakup of my second marriage I decided I never wanted to marry again. I didn’t think I was very good at it. So, I decided, no longterm relationships, no live-ins (overnighters, sure, and had a few of those), and especially no falling in love. Leave it at lust and let it go. It was fun with no commitments and I had a blast. Within a couple of weeks of that I met the woman to whom I’ve now been married to for over 8 years. Have never regretted it for a second. Following your wisdom of ‘letting it go’ it manifested in a way I wasn’t seeking. Good thought.

  2. Ian ~ I would love to think of something to add to this, but all I can say is “yes.”

  3. again, I win. You are the best source of positive for me!!!!

  4. Hooray! Pool, your comments always make me laugh. Yes, you definitely do win, lady. You’re a bona fide WINNER!!!!

  5. very insightful.

  6. Thanks, Meleah. It seems that so much of what we all want can just be had when we stop fighting so much for it. It’s the fighting and the struggling and the thinking that get us in trouble. At least for me. The less I struggle, the more I just open my arms to the incredibleness that IS.

  7. I think of it like trying to grab water from a stream. If you just cup your hand loosely in the water, you can have all the water you want. But the minute you tighten your fist, it vanishes.

  8. CS ~ What a great visual. So appropriate. I wish I could share it with the world, but I will try my best to keep it in my mind’s eye.

  9. I am done FIGHTING and STRUGGLING..and I am giving UP my house to MOVE in with my mom and dad.

At first I looked at it as being DEFEATED, like I had failed….

But, this post helped remind me why I am moving home, and all I really DO have to look forward too.

  10. Meleah ~ I truly do believe that so much of the misery we experience is all because of US. And since we are the only ones who can change the way we think, it’s wondrous to begin there by either looking at something a different way or letting go and not thinking about it altogether and just being — experiencing the beauty of what IS. I wish this for you. Best wishes, truly, with your move.

  11. Thank you for posting this. I needed the reminder. Lara

  12. Oh so true. It’s funny but I just posted a link to a video with Ram Dass in it. I love Ram Dass and always wind up saying — “How true!” when I hear him.

Thanks for the quote. Peace today. ~ RS ~

  13. Lara ~ Anytime. 😉

Ruby ~ I need to go watch that. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard him speak. Thank you for the good wishes — I return them to you in abundance and hope that this day is filled with good gifts from the universe for *you*!
