Because once you’ve had penguin you can never go back

October 25, 2007

  1. I honestly don’t understand the penguin craze. Would somebody please explain this to me?

  2. Did you watch the clips? Jim. Jim. Jim. What *am* I going to do with you?

It’s okay. My sense of humor is a little whack. It’s not the first time someone has said, “Angela, I just don’t *get* you.” 😉 I still think you’re lovely anyway.

For the record, I am not as enamored with penguins as Reese is — I’m a frog girl, myself — but the main penguin in this show, Skipper, makes me laugh out loud with his funny lines. He totally reminds me of Robert De Niro’s character in Meet the Fockers and Meet the Parents.

“Greg, this is the circle of trust. Here is where you are” (pointing to a dot *outside* the circle of trust). I love that guy! (Not as a father or a father-in-law, but the character is a hoot!)

  3. But why not ferrets, or ocelots, or marmots, or meerkats, or ligers, or armadillos, or albatrosses, or turkey vultures, or egrets?

Why is is always penguins, penguins, penguins?

  4. Jim ~ I’m afraid that I’m going to have to leave that one to Reese because I was just trying to be funny with my post title. 😉 I don’t adore penguins. I just really like *these* penguins. Perhaps if she stops by again she can shed some light on it. Do you not have a favorite animal, bird, fish, amphibian that you feel connected to? (Maybe it’s a girl thing.) 🙂

  5. very cute. I think the movie Happy Feet had a lot to do with the penguin craze.

  6. I’ve been a penguin fan forever. Ok, since about 2nd grade.

I think it was initially because they are cute, and then because they weren’t horses or cats like all the other girls were into.

    I just love them.

  7. I think there should be a hit Disney or Pixar movie about slugs.

  8. Hi Meleah ~ That may be very true. I couldn’t get Moulin Rouge out of my head with all the Nicole Kidman scenes, though. 😉

Reese ~ Thanks so much for piping in on this one. As I told Jim earlier, I am totally attached to frogs. Why? I’m sure I have no idea. But I am, so I go with it.

Jim ~ I think *you* should write the screenplay. It will be a huge hit and then we can all come to your premier, and it will be a blast! What do you think?

  9. Penguin are tasty. Or at least thats what we’re calling it on the street.

  10. 😉 Pool ~ I can always count on you. Is everyone in your family this witty? Happy weekend!

  11. that was too funny — even though i’ve watched it before. never gets old. not sure why the movie didn’t take off as much though. maybe the jokes weren’t kid friendly enough. the happy feet mengiuns were cutesy but these ones are witty — you can’t compare. the “i like to move it move it” dance at the end still cracks me up everytime I see it.

  12. oh and thanks for this — starts my week of really well. 🙂

  13. There was a penguin movie choice on the plane on my recent business trip. I should have watched it. It had to be better than The Devil Wears Prada.

  14. Hi Foo! Isn’t that the best movie. I feel the exact same way about the dance at the end. It always gets me moving.

Hi V! So funny! I have yet to watch it but so hate to miss a Meryl Streep movie, even if everyone seems to hate it.
